Giclée Imaging

The images on the left are a small sample of the Giclée fine art printing done by Freshwater Studio.

Giclée fine art images are digitally captured, color corrected, calibrated, and sized prior to printing on fine art paper and canvas. We use one of the best fine art printers available, the Epson Stylus Pro 9800 with the UltraChrome K3 Pigmented Ink set & the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 with the UltraChrome K3 HDR Ink set,. Together with the finest papers & canvas available, using the proper storage, framing or finishing methods combines to give our prints an expected life of 75 to 180 years.

Giclée printing evolved from a proofing system used for traditional lithographic printing presses. The Giclée fine art prints emerged when it became apparent that the presses were having a hard time delivering the equivalent end product image quality and brilliant color of the giclée proofs.

Giclées have become the hottest print medium and are coveted by collectors for their fidelity and quality. Galleries and artists like them because of their print-on-demand capabilities, in-house control, and limited inventory requirements. Today's Giclées may also be printed to a variety ink receptive substrates including canvas, silk, vinyl, acrylic and aluminum composites allowing for a variety of display possibilities. Soft silk and vinyl maybe suspended by rods, canvas may be stretched or mounted
